Box vs Ledge: What are these exactly?

How's your product made?

  1. Materials: We use select, clear (no knots) Radiata Pine - A Renewable "Green" wood source. This is a fabulous medium density pine unlike standard white or yellow pine. It is grown in the USA and New Zealand and is a renewable resource. It's characteristics are wonderful to work with and view once finished.
  2. Construction: Our shelving consists of a top piece on which we put a decorative routered edge and a picture/plate groove (as a free option.)
  3. The bottom piece of the shelf consists of crown moulding (Standard, Tall Standard, Serpentine & Dentil) which we create right here in the shop.
  4. Finish: We spray our Black and White as well as the stains, which is followed by 2 coats of a protective polyurethane clearcoat.
  5. Installation: We include a double wood cleat (French Cleat) hanging system. Half of the cleat is built into the shelf; the other half hangs on the wall. This design is especially strong and used on much heavier items like plate racks. It's most important value is that it works well with slightly irregular walls (not perfectly straight walls) as well. The Thinline uses an entirely different "sandwich" system.
  6. We include drywall wall anchors which are spectacular (not those flimsy plastic things or keyholes.) Screws are included as well. We also include longer screws in case you hit a stud.
  7. Tools: You'll only need a Philips head screwdriver (a power screwdriver really does the trick though) and a level (or a tape measure if you want to measure off the ceiling.)
  8. Installation Time is as little as 5 minutes up to 15 minutes. Instructions are included and you can always call us for advice.
